Divide your home area by 10

Home area ÷ 10Example: a 60 m² apartment → a ROOM of about 6 m².

This benchmark works well when some furniture can be dismantled, boxes can be stacked and the full height of the ROOM can be used efficiently.

Oversized items

Add the area of sofas, armchairs or a large wardrobe

Keeping a favourite sofa assembled and leaving its surface clear? Measure its length and depth, then add that footprint to the starting estimate. Do the same for armchairs and a large wardrobe that you do not plan to dismantle. You can place belongings inside the wardrobe, but if you do not expect to use it for storage, add its full floor footprint.

Large assembled wardrobe — use its actual dimensions

A refrigerator, washing machine, small furniture, shelves and compact cabinets do not need to be added separately — they are already covered by the “home area ÷ 10” estimate.

Leave an aisle inside the ROOM

If you expect to bring or collect items from time to time, do not pack the unit wall to wall. Keep a clear strip from the door to the items at the back.

Aisle ≈ 0.5 m wide

You will reach the box you need without rearranging the whole ROOM or stepping on your belongings.
