Starting point
Divide your home area by 10
This benchmark works well when some furniture can be dismantled, boxes can be stacked and the full height of the ROOM can be used efficiently.
Space calculator
Estimate your ROOM area in three practical steps: home size, large assembled furniture and a clear aisle to your belongings.

Starting point
This benchmark works well when some furniture can be dismantled, boxes can be stacked and the full height of the ROOM can be used efficiently.
Oversized items
Keeping a favourite sofa assembled and leaving its surface clear? Measure its length and depth, then add that footprint to the starting estimate. Do the same for armchairs and a large wardrobe that you do not plan to dismantle. You can place belongings inside the wardrobe, but if you do not expect to use it for storage, add its full floor footprint.
Access to belongings
If you expect to bring or collect items from time to time, do not pack the unit wall to wall. Keep a clear strip from the door to the items at the back.
Aisle ≈ 0.5 m wideYou will reach the box you need without rearranging the whole ROOM or stepping on your belongings.
